3rd Annual International Motorsports Industry Show – Inside The Industry With Chris

Show number 3 under our belt.
It’s official. I’m moving us out of the Rookie phase in terms of producing a first class Hardcore Trade Show. IMIS 2011 was fantastic and could be considered a “Breakout” show. The aisles were packed as we enjoyed a strong 35% increase in attendees. More importantly, these were real people on the floor, not just the number created by registration on the website. I speak for my partners and staff when I say how happy we are with our progress in just 3 short years. This success is because of you; members of the hardcore racing industry.

Quality
We are very fortunate to have experienced growth in these challenging economic times. It’s proof that racing is very resilient and the people involved are resourceful. IMIS provides easy access to these resources so that the racing industry can experience “One Stop Shopping” and do business in an environment that is efficient and effective. In addition to the increased attendance, we also enjoyed a 20% increase in floor space used this year. Next year will be even better as many companies are increasing their booth size for 2012.

Congratulations from the entire staff to IMIS partner, Tony Stewart, on one of the most incredible nights in NASCAR history. If anyone had any doubts about Smoke being one of the greatest drivers ever, the 2011 Sprint Cup Chase to the Championship should solidify his legend. All of us at IMIS are extremely proud of Tony and this unbelievable accomplishment. Those of us who really know Tony are never surprised when he does something remarkable.

He is one of the great drivers of all time and is in an elite group, which consists of a very small number of truly great drivers that have proven they can win in any type of car. Of the NASCAR champions in the modern era, or any era for that matter, none have been as diverse as Tony Stewart. From the beginning of the Chase, he was calm, cool, and very confident.

Thanks Tony for the great show you put on at Homestead, entertaining all of us gear heads with the reason we are in this sport; to witness greatness and unbelievable ability.

Recently I returned from representing the International Motorsports Industry Show at the National Parts Peddler Show at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse. This trip marked not only the first time IMIS displayed at Parts Peddler; it was also my personal first trip to the show. National Parts Peddler has been a cornerstone of Northeast racing for many years now and it is still going strong. It was a great experience and showed me why they are so vital to market place. What a great Chase to the Sprint Cup Championship. With only 1 race remaining, Homestead, only 3 points separate Carl Edwards and IMIS partner, Tony Stewart. Smoke has brought his “A” game to the Chase, winning 4 out of 9 races so far. I don’t think anyone can dispute the huge amount of talent Tony has. He can win in anything. He’s proven that in sprint cars, midgets, modifieds, late models, Indy Cars, and NASCAR. He took a ride in a TORC Series off road truck just before his win at Chicagoland in September. I’m sure that will be his next adventure. Good luck to Smoke from the entire IMIS staff. Read More »

INDIANAPOLIS (Nov. 4, 2011) – Two-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Tony Stewart will lead a team of NASCAR drivers who will compete against a team of INDYCAR drivers in the inaugural Indy Karting Classic on Sunday, Dec. 11, at Conseco Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis.

The Indy Karting Classic is a one-day festival of karting that will bring the third annual International Motorsports Industry Show (IMIS) to a close. IMIS is a three-day trade show featuring seminars, conferences and hundreds of exhibitors showcasing the latest and greatest in racing parts and technology. The third annual IMIS event is scheduled for Dec. 8-10 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis.

Now in its third year, the 2011 edition of IMIS marks the debut of the Indy Karting Classic, which features more than five different karting classes competing throughout the day, culminating with the NASCAR vs. INDYCAR race. In addition, throughout the day, the Conseco Fieldhouse concourse will be filled with karting industry displays manned by representatives from karting tracks, manufacturers and suppliers.

“Competitive karting remains one of the most pure forms of motorsports, so I’m looking forward to getting in a kart and racing some of the INDYCAR guys,” said Stewart, who has World Karting Association and International Karting Association titles on his resume. “The Indy Karting classic is shaping up to be a cool day for karting enthusiasts. It should be a fun spectator event, as well.”

Joining Stewart on the NASCAR team are fellow Sprint Cup driver A.J. Allmendinger and current NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Austin Dillon, who is the grandson of Sprint Cup car owner Richard Childress. More NASCAR drivers and the INDYCAR team of drivers will be announced in the near future.

Spectator tickets for the racing program are $15 for single admission or $30 for the Family 4-Pack. Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com, or on the day of the event at the Conseco Fieldhouse box office. Make The Most Of Your IMIS Experience! – Jason Gilbert

It’s hard to believe that that third annual International Motorsports Industry Show is just a few short weeks away! The IMIS team has been hard at work for the past 11+ months at providing the platform for a great event where the world of motorsports will convene to network, establish connections, and do great business!

As I attend other meetings and tradeshow’s I often find myself behind the eight ball in pre-planning my experience while at the event. And oftentimes I find out about certain activities that I would have been interested in after the fact. If I would have taken 30 minutes to do some pre-planning I would find that I would have gotten more out of my experience at that particular show.

Our lives are so hectic and time is precious, but I encourage you to take some time and visit the IMIS website if you haven’t done so yet. I guarantee there is at least one thing going on in conjunction with the show that you were unaware of! If you know all there is to know then I owe you a beer on me. Here is a just a sampling  of some of the things going on at IMIS: Read More »
