The 2012 season is officially underway with the completion of the Daytona 500. Congratulations to Matt Kenseth, crew chief Jimmy Fennig, and IMIS exhibitor Roush Yates Engines for their exciting victory.
Daytona is a great place to see many people in our industry. Over 2 weeks I had the pleasure to meet and visit with many IMIS exhibitors, attendees, and racers from all over the country. Growing up in racing has been a rock and roll lifestyle for many of us. Traveling all over the world, working countless hours – many all nighters, and the emotional highs and lows of living and breathing competition. I can speak on my behalf that I have felt a lot of pain from losing and the unbelievable satisfaction and exhilaration from winning and tackling many difficult challenges. In my 38 years in the racing business, I do not believe anything has hit me as hard as the sad news of NSSN ending its 77 year reign as the “Racing Bible.” I know that statement is true for thousands in our industry.
